What The King Executives Could Make From The IPO

Earlier this week, King set a price for their shares between $21 and $24 for their New York Stock Exchange filing, valuing the company at over $7 billion.

This IPO is said to make them the most valuable British Internet company. Candy Crush is King’s most download and profitable game. It has been downloaded over 500 million times and makes up about 78% of their revenue. Although the game is free, people purchase lives and different add-ons.

If they meet their expectations and sell in that price range, the executives at King will be worth 2.2 billion, even putting one of them on the list of ‘one of Britain’s richest men’. Lets break down what two out of the eleven executives of King will make if they reach their target prices.

The man with a 12 percent stake in King, Melvyn Morris, has the potential of making $854.8 million. Morris is an entrepreneur who developed uDate, which sold for over 100 million pounds and Prevx, which sold for over 10 million pounds. He is also a former Derby County FC director. The chief executive of King and co-founder, Riccardo Zacconi has the potential to make up to $745 million with a 10.4% stake.

The private equity firms that invested into King will also be making a substantial amount of money off of this filing. Since investing in 2005, Apax owns more than 48% of the shares. Apax could earn up to $3.4 billion! Another private equity firm that invested into King is Index Ventures. Index has the potential of making $599 million.

In 2003, Riccardo Zacconi and Toby Rowland founded King. They now have six locations all over the world, employing over 600 people. Currently, they have eight active games including Candy Crush Saga, Bubble Witch Saga, and Farm Heroes Saga. It is only a matter of time to determine if this IPO filing will help to increase their revenues and keep them at the top of the gaming community.
