What are Candy Crush Saga Mystery Quests?

Candy Crush Saga Mystery quests are offered after you have finished an episode of Candy Crush Saga. An episode comprises of 14 levels of the game and once you’ve finished those levels, you reach a “train” station. In order to continue onto the next set of levels, you have three options:

  1. Pay $0.99 and bypass the train station immediately

  2. Ask Facebook friends for “tickets” to pass the station (you need 3).
  3. Play the Mystery Quests

Note: Mystery quests are not available if you sync your Candy Crush to Facebook.

When you read the train station, you can opt to play the quests. The quests are random repeats of levels you’ve already cleared, with a higher score requirement than the original level.

However, there are conditions to the quests: you must complete all three given quests to move onto the next episode. You can only complete one quest per 24 hours.

How do I beat Mystery Quests?

To beat a mystery quest, you must complete the given requirements of the level. You may encounter an ingredient level, jelly level or target score level.

However, you don’t need to actually wait 24 hours in order to play the next quest. Simply go into your settings and set your clock forward 24 hours (see here for more on changing your time) to unlock your next quest.

Tip: If you can stand it, many users have reported their minimum score requirement is actually lowered if they wait a few days between quests.

Facebook and Mystery Quests

You may remember seeing Mystery Quests when you first started playing but then they don’t appear anymore! This is because Candy Crush Saga Mystery Quests are unavailable to users who play on Facebook.

But don’t worry–just go into your Candy Crush settings (click the yellow arrow in the left-hand corner then click the red door, click the yellow arrow again and then click the green gear symbol) and unlink your Facebook to your Candy Crush account.

Once you do this, relaunch the app and you’ll have access to the episodes.

Note: If you have stockpiled a lot of lives from your Facebook friends, you run the risk of losing them when you unsync.

I was just starting a mystery quest on my iphone after level 80, to get past a boat station to access the next batch of levels, when I stopped playing for at least a couple of months (sciatica, pain and games don’t mix). Today (still not having played), I saw a badge “1” on the Candy Crush icon and opened it to see what it was about. I had mysteriously been pushed through the station and was now on Level 81.

Once I was having trouble with an earlier level and I got a message that some fairy was skipping me to the next level. I had been playing then, however. Have no idea why it happened. Was a little aggravated since I don’t actually mind playing a level again and again and again… 🙂 and was pretty close to clearing it.

I am not and never have been logged into Facebook but all of a sudden I am not given the mystery quest option. What is going on?
