Candy Crush Saga has taken everyone by surprise! Who would have thought that King.com’s candy matching and combining game would become the talk of not just the mobile and tablet goers, but by people from all over the word? Candy Crush was the first game to be number 1 on Android, iPhone, and Facebook all at the same time! And while all that is impressive, it’s King.com’s profit figures for Candy Crush that has everybody scratching their heads.


Think Gaming, a gaming analytic research company, estimates that the Candy Crush is raking in $875,382 per day. Yes, you read that correctly. Now you’re probably wondering how does Candy Crush get players to spend an excessive amount of money on this game—especially when there the only reward is to move on to one of the next 500-something levels? There is no incentive to keep playing and accomplish all the levels; there is no cash prize or reward. Just self-satisfaction and bragging rights. So why are people spending so much money on Candy Crush?


TIME Magazine recently release an article on their business page titled, Candy Crush Saga: The Science Behind Our Addiction. Author Eliana Dockterman–on the anniversary of Candy Crush’s first release into the world–looks to uncover (with app designer’s and psychology experts) why people can’t stop playing and spending money on this cash-cow app!

In Dockterman’s article, she investigates the various reasons and causes for why everyone is so addicted to Candy Crush.
