How Much Time and Money Do People Spend on Candy Crush?

If Candy Crush is free, why are so many people spending their money on to play the game?  Just like other addictions, people will spend money on it to keep it going.  With more than 45 million people playing the game each month, some are bound to spend money on it. It is frustrating when you want to keep on playing and beat that one level, but you are out of lives.  People have even stated that Candy Crush is as addicting as gambling!

King found that women, age 25 to 55, are their best customers.  Some think that the layout and premise of the game makes it very appealing to women.  Even though most women find the game very appealing, many men have fallen into the Candy Crush frenzy as well.  It is reported that Candy Crush alone brings in $633,000 a day!  Denise D’Andre, a Candy Crush player, stated:

“I was on vacation in Cancun, and I’d find myself leaving the pool to go back to the room, and I would sit there and I’d be playing Candy Crush trying to get to the next level.  I’m a little addicted to it”.

It is crazy to see how far people will go to play the game, even removing yourself from vacation to sit inside to play a game! When players run out of lives, they will pay a small fee to King in order to keep their game alive.  Many people want that immediate satisfaction that comes with beating a level.  However, when you make this a habit, it will start to add up.  Alie Badillo, a 25-year old from New York spent nearly $1,000 on the game in a single year.   Just like in gambling, many people keep playing until they are content.  They want that satisfaction of either completing the game (all 500+ levels) or that one level that they have been stuck on for a few days.
