Candy Crush Appears on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’

The new hit comedy show Brooklyn Nine Nine is based around the 99th Precinct of the New York Police Department.  The show features hit stars including Andy Samberg, Chelsea Peretti, and Melissa Fumero.  In this weeks episode ‘Tactical Village”, they feature a spin-off game ‘Kwazy Cupcakes’. The game is very similar to the game we are all very familiar with, Candy Crush.

One of the employees at the precinct, Gina, gets caught playing ‘Kwazy Cupcakes’ by her superior, Captain Holt.  The show portrays the scene as Gina acting uninterested in her work with her focus solely on the game, ‘Kwazy Cupcakes’.  While the other members of the precinct are away at a training course, ‘tactical village’, Gina catches the captain repeatedly playing the game.  When confronted by Gina, Holt states that he ‘has a tremendous amount of self control…that he will not have any problem resisting this silly game and deletes the app from his phone’.  Isn’t that what we all say about playing Candy Crush?

Throughout the episode, it is interesting to see the Captains level of interest increase.   The portrayal that Brooklyn Nine Nine created almost mirrors many peoples perception about the game.  Like many of us, he starts off by not caring about the game, but once he got a feel for it, there was no stopping him from trying to beat every level.  Candy Crush took the mobile gaming community by storm and has not faltered yet.  Brooklyn Nine Nine, gives a nice comic relief to the realistic presence mobile games have in today’s society.
